This and That

Cubby Says:
I overheard in a restaurant a young boy asking his father why the waitress got a 15% tip and God ony gets 10% or less.
Can anyone clear this up for me?
I'll be in church so you can explain it then.

Love
Cubby

Never put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber.
A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout..No
wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial
number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression,
many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein
that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you
feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can
affect your mood.
Anemia : High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases
of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to
beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry
to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams
this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power.
Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert..
Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to
overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with
honey.. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels,
while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a
banana for soothing relief.
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the
protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the
other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe
it's time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a day keeps the doctor away!'
PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS
PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine
on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe... then polish with dry cloth.
Amazing fruit !!!
The Story of the Stained Glass Window in the Sanctuary as told by Bob  Remp.
The window was made by Vince and Bonnie Dalke a short time after we moved into the new building.  The window was clear before that and had to be draped due to the harsh light.  I suggested a memorial window and several families made a commitment.  So, I knew the Dalke's when they had a big stain glass store in Prescott and they gave us a very good price.  At the base of the window are several brass tags showing the names of the people whose memory is to be preserved.  This is a memorial window designed to cause people to wonder about why Jesus' face is not seen.  I asked people if anyone could describe Jesus' face but since no one can agree, the Dalke's designed the picture of what Jesus was known for and it tells a story of things more commonly known in the Bible.
The fishing boat and nets remind us of several accounts about his activities with the disciples. The waves could point to him walking on the water.  The sheep, the Light of the World, the mountains, etc. all may remind people of more well-known stories involving Jesus.  He stands behind the cross since the cross is the central point of the New Testament which is atonement and salvation.
There are a lot more images involved if people would take time to see instead of trying to decide what Jesus looks like.
The two parts of the window were made an set into the frame leaving the original clear glass intact.
Karl Kendall made the large cross the sits in front of the window and believe it or not, weighs only 15 pounds.  It is held up with magnets and a pin at the base.  It comes off if needed to be cleaned.
Jerry Paris made the altar, pulpit, flower stands and baptismal stand.  These are memorials also.  They all have tags on them.
The table in the Narthex was a gift from Catholic church in Prescott.  They also donated several banners that Terry reworked.

This is a true story and it will give you the chills.
This is a beautiful and touching story of love and Perseverance.
Well worth the read.
At the prodding of my friends I am writing this Story. My name is Mildred Honor and I am a former elementary school
Music teacher from Des Moines, Iowa.

I have always supplemented my income by teaching Piano lessons - something I have done for over 30 years.

During those years I found that children have many Levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the
Pleasure of having a prodigy, I have taught some very talented Students.
However, I have also had my share of what I call 'musically challenged' pupils - one such pupil being Robby..

Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a single mom) Dropped him off for his first piano lesson. I prefer that
students (especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained to Robby. But Robby said that it had always been
his mother's dream to Hear him play the piano, so I took him as a student.
Well, Robby began his piano lessons and from the Beginning I thought it was a hopeless endeavor. As much as
Robby Tried, he lacked the sense of tone and basic rhythm needed to excel. But he dutifully reviewed his scales and
some elementary piano pieces That I require all my students to learn.  Over the months he tried And tried while I
listened and cringed and tried to encourage him.
At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say 'My mom's going to hear me play someday'. But to me, it
seemed hopeless, he just did not have any inborn ability.
I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited in her aged car to pick him up. She always
waved And smiled, but never dropped in.

Then one day Robby stopped coming for his lessons. I Thought about calling him, but assumed that because of his
lack of Ability he had decided to pursue something else. I was also glad that He had stopped coming - he was a bad
advertisement for my teaching!

Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the Student's homes. To my surprise, Robby (who had received a flyer)
Asked me if he could be in the recital. I told him that the recital Was for current pupils and that because he had dropped
out, he really Did not qualify.

He told me that his mother had been sick and unable To take him to his piano lessons, but that he had been practicing.
'Please Miss Honor, I've just got to play' he insisted. I don't know What led me to allow him to play in the recital -
perhaps it was his Insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be All right.

The night of the recital came and the high school Gymnasium was packed with parents, relatives and friends. I put
Robby Last in the program, just before I was to come up and thank all the Students and play a finishing piece. I thought
that any damage he Might do would come at the end of the program and I could always Salvage his poor performance
through my 'curtain closer'.

Well, the recital went off without a hitch, the Students had been practicing and it showed. Then Robby came up on the
Stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair looked as though he had Run an egg beater through it.  'Why wasn't he
dressed up like the other students?' I thought. 'Why didn't his mother at least make him Comb his hair for this special
night?'

Robby pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised When he announced that he had chosen to play Mozart's
Concerto No..21 In C Major. I was not prepared for what I heard next. His fingers Were light on the keys, they even
danced nimbly on the ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his Suspended chords
that Mozart demands were magnificent!

Never had I heard Mozart played so well by anyone his Age.

After six and a half minutes he ended in a grand Crescendo, and everyone was on their feet in wild applause!
Overcome May God Bless you today, tomorrow and always.

If God didn't have a purpose for us, we wouldn't be here!

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.  Speak kindly.  Leave the rest to God.
